Rimmel London’s new launch: Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour

Stay Matte Liquid  Lip Colour is Rimmel London’s latest release and a very worthy challenger to be introduced to the matte lipstick playing field. The collection consists of 15 shades of non-drying, high-intensity colour for a bold lip that lasts up to 12 hours.

I received a beautiful press pack consisting of four of the 15 shades, and what I would consider a pretty standard spectrum of the popular shades. Included in my collection is “Fire Starter”, a bold eye-catching red, “Plum this Show”, a highly pigments deep plum tone, “Rose and Shine” a gorgeous soft pink colour and finally what has become my favourite, “Moca”, the ultimate nude shade.
Over the past weeks I’ve explored these shade and put them to the ultimate test — and by test I mean my typical days of eating, drinking and occasionally wiping away crumbs from more eating. Here’s my verdict.

First Impressions

When I first laid eyes and hands on these liquid lipsticks, the first thing that stood out to me was the product size, they feel slightly smaller than what I’m used to. The tube feels lightweight and compact, it’s refreshing in hindsight, given it’s the formula inside that really counts. Upon opening a tube, the following things caught my attention. First, these lippies smell really good, like a mixture of chocolate and candyfloss, secondly the applicators are a perfect size and even allow for razor-precise application (which is any lip over-liner’s dream,) and finally and possibly most note worthy – the bold pigmentation of these shades really makes an impact — and this is all before even applying the product to my lips!

As mentioned above, these colours are super pigmented, so precise application is a must. The applications make this easy, and once the colour is on, it does not budge — I mean it. These lippies are super long wear and truly are water-proof, touch-proof, kiss-proof – honestly, life-proof. The ultimate test for me (and risk I might add) is applying one coat in the morning and leaving the lipstick at home. This was especially risky on days when I had shoots and meeting and lunch stops in between. I have to say I was slightly dumb-founded when after a day of doing the most, my lip colour stayed in tip-top shape. Amongst its many qualities, the long-wear is definitely my favourite.

If you’re looking to build up a reliable collection of liquid matte lipsticks or even just find your one go-to shade like I did, then definitely opt for Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Liquid Lip Color. The affordable price point of R 119.95  means you can pick up one or two shades and give them a go — or better yet, have them delivered to you when shopping online at Foschini Beauty. Of course, for all the swatch-queens out there who need to try-before-you-buy, you can also find them instore at Dischem, Edgars, Foschini stores, Clicks and selected pharmacies.
